Allow Yourself to Feel

You know, I am mostly a positive person. I often claim positivity as a superpower. I still feel that way most of the time, but I am also learning to appreciate the part of me that doesn’t always feel positive.

She is deep, darker, and grounded. She understands that while she loves the light and sweet parts of life, she can also find beauty in the things that don’t go as planned, the frustrations, and the tough times.

Here’s what you need to know if you find yourself in challenging times:

You can handle any emotion that comes your way.

You can allow yourself to feel.

There is beauty in the light, and there is beauty in the dark.

When you allow yourself to feel your emotions without resisting, you open yourself up to the possibility of peace.

One of my teachers, master coach Brooke Castillo, talks about emotion as simply a vibration in the body. You can allow the vibration. And when you allow the vibration, it often passes.

This also applies to positive emotions, by the way.

So often, we minimize or downplay our good times for fear that we’ll shine to bright or overwhelm someone who is not in the same place.

When you feel happy and joyful – allow these vibrations

When you feel sad or anxious – allow these vibrations

As you grow more accustomed to allowing the emotions, as you learn not to numb the emotions out with your distraction-of-choice (think – alcohol, food, drugs, sex, Netflix, shopping, etc….), you will notice yourself feeling more and more ALIVE.

And this what you want, right? To feel fully alive.

Here’s to feeling your emotions, my love.

I know you can do it. I know you can handle it.

And, of course, if you need support – reach out. Sometimes we need a loved one, a coach, or a therapist to help us process our feelings even more.

If you’re ready for support, I have 4 new openings for one-on-one (1:1) clients starting in August.

Here are some reasons you might want a life coach (because at this point, I believe we can all benefit from having a coach on our support team):

You want life to flow with ease.

You want to feel happier and more vibrant.

You want to take action.

You want to do meaningful work.

You want to take care of yourself in the kindest of ways.

You want to feel open-hearted and loving in your relationships.

You want to show up and be an authentic leader.

You want to live life fully.

Through 1:1 coaching with me, you have personalized support. Clients work with me between 3-6 months minimum – which means you have me on your team to help you find the mindset, strategy, and follow through to make things happen in your life.

So, if you need support with living, loving, and leading with an open heart (in other words – with courage, kindness, and authenticity), I’d love to be on your team.

If you’d like to explore the possibility of coaching more, apply HERE for a free Spark Session with me! Once you fill out an application, I’ll contact you to schedule our 30 minute free call/Skype session to explore how we could work together, how coaching can support you, and if we’re the right match.

Oh – and here’s an example of my coaching clients’ experiences with 1:1 Coaching:

“Having Solveig as my life coach has been an amazing experience. Talking with her always gives me new insights into my life, new perspectives regarding myself and new ways to share my authentic soul with the world. I have grown so much with her help, support and guidance. Working with her makes me feel as if I have my own personal cheerleader in this game of life.”  – Hope Wallace, hopewallace.com

–> Also, if you could use extra love and support right now with trusting where you are in life, remember, I made you this Trust Yourself Guided Visualization. I’ve heard back from some of you about how the experience was for you – and it’s been so fun for me to know that it was helpful. If you haven’t tried it yet – follow this link HERE – take 15 minutes – and build your self-trust a bit more today.

What Season is it for You?

Yesterday, I had a great conversation about *joy* with my new friend Maya Hampton, The Joy Expert (@sayyes2joy on Insta).

We met each other through my amazing friend and rad coaching buddy Blaze Bell via Instagram, which is one of my favorite ways to make new friends!

(Btw, are we Insta friends yet? Let’s be friends! I’m @solandheart)

Maya and I had a wonderful conversation about seasons, the cycles of our lives, and finding light amidst the darkness. I loved talking with her, and our conversation inspired me to write you today.

First, those of you in the northern hemisphere might be experiencing the long summer days, and noticing yourself staying up later and trying to get more done – it is SUMMER, after all!?

Up here in Alaska, I notice in many of us the desire to get out and do ALL THE FUN THINGS because it is light and warm and YOU MUST…before it’s winter again, right?!

We feel like we must take advantage of the season, and yet sometimes it exhausts us. We stay up too late, we don’t get normal life things (like laundry) done – because we’re pushing to do all the things.

This is so much fun at times! (And you know, I advocate for *fun* in life as much as possible.) Each summer, I find myself putting chores aside so that I can go out and play – trusting that things will get done eventually – and I’ll have alllll winter to clean.

Sometimes, though, this pace of life can get to be too much.

Remember, you don’t have to be on the move all the time.

Listen to your body.

If you have energy for fun, go for it!

And…if your body is telling you that it might need to rest a bit, to recuperate before the next adventure – listen to that, too.

Your body will tell you what it needs.

Regardless of what season it is where you are in the world, this feeling can be like the metaphorical springs and summers of our lives. There are times in our lives, no matter what season outside, in which we feel energetic, excited, and super productive. We feel creative, in flow, and like we can do all the things with ease. There are other times that are like the autumns and winters of our lives…times in which we want to curl up, get cozy, and let the time pass without being productive in any way. We may notice the ebb of our energy, and the desire to hermit; to let time pass and just be. In the past, I would feel stressed when these times showed up in my life. I would wonder with concern – Where has my inspiration gone? Have I lost my creativity and motivation!? I would question whether I really needed to watch one more Netflix episode, or sleep in that extra hour that my body was telling me it needed.

I have learned now to trust those signals.

Our lives move in cycles, sometimes aligned with the seasons, and sometimes not.

Where are you in your life?

Is it spring, summer, autumn, or winter?

This morning, I opened Rebecca Campbell’s book, Rise Sister Rise, as I do most mornings (it’s part of my morning self-care ritual to read something inspiring) and found these words:

Trust the natural flow of your inner seasons and don’t push yourself to bloom all year. There are times for sowing, times for blossoming, and times for retreating and going into hibernation. There is plenty of room for all of us to rise in our own perfect time. What is another person’s summer may be your winter. But come spring, positions will be reversed. Trust your inner seasons and remember: spring returns to delight us each and every year.

What wonderful timing! Whenever this kind of synchronicity happens (like, I’m thinking of the seasons and cycles, and I turn to the perfect page in a book), I see it as a wink from the Universe; a sweet reminder we are on the right path.

If you want extra love and support right now with trusting where you are in life, remember, I made you this Trust Yourself Guided Visualization earlier this month. I’ve heard back from some of you about how the experience was for you – and it’s been so fun for me to know that it was helpful. If you haven’t tried it yet – follow this link HERE – take 15 minutes – and build your self-trust a bit more today.

Open-Hearted Life Coaching

Big news, loves! I have four new openings for one-on-one (1:1) clients starting this month!

If you’re wishing to feel more clarity, confidence, or courage in your life right now, let’s chat! (Apply HERE.)

As the seasons change, we often become more aware of what’s working in our lives, and what’s not.

We may find that there are pieces and parts of our lives that we’d like to make even more wonderful.

I work with big-hearted creatives and changemakers (that’s you!) who want to live, love, and lead with open hearts.

Here are the kinds of reasons you might decide to hire me as an Open-Hearted Life, Love, and Leadership Coach:

  • Your creativity is buried underneath a 9-5 (or 6 or 7 pm) that’s got you running – and missing out on time to follow your passion.
  • You are ready to commit to a project that’s been on the back burner – and you know you need someone on your team to have accountability and strategy sessions to grow your dream with confidence.
  • You are a passionate changemaker who is burnt out…and you know you need to make some changes to keep yourself healthy and happy.
  • You’re ready to feel more love in your life – and you’re wanting to explore how you can do that in an authentic way (whether you’re single or partnered – through friendships, romance, and self-growth).
  • Your business or creative endeavor is starting to *grow* and you recognize you’re going to have to get over those fears and step into more courage in your life.
  • You’re in a leadership role and you could use support growing those leadership skills – specifically around how you take care of yourself in the best ways while having a lot of responsibility and how you communicate with others.

Through 1:1 coaching with me, you have personalized support. Clients work with me between 3-6 months minimum – which means you have me on your team to help you find the mindset, strategy, and follow through to make things happen in your life.

So, if you need support with living, loving, and leading with an open heart (in other words – with courage and kindness), I’d love to be on your team.

Talking with her always gives me new insights into my life, new perspectives regarding my self and new ways to share my authentic soul with the world. I have grown so much with her help, support and guidance. Working with her makes me feel as if I have my own personal cheerleader in this game of life.”  – Hope Wallace, hopewallace.com

So if you’re trying to decide if the time is right, check in with yourself. Ask yourself – “Am I cool with living in the status quo? Are things good?” If your answer is YES – that’s beautiful. Enjoy your life, and I love being here alongside you! If your answer is any version of, “Ehhh…I suspect it could be better,” – then consider how personalized coaching might make life even happier, more vibrant, more full of goodness for you.

“I love you,” she said – and she meant it

This one’s for you, girlfriend:

“I love you.”

When is the last time you said that…

to your body?

It seems like such a simple statement, right? But when it comes to our bodies, it can also be loaded.

You know. You’re a savvy human…

You know you’re supposed  to love your body.

You know you’re supposed to treat her with care, to do all you can to be good to her…

And yet, sometimes you falter.

You get overly busy and start skipping your workouts.

You eat crummy food that makes you feel sluggish and bloated

You go on autopilot and don’t really slow down to listen to what your body needs…

Or maybe, you’re doing all the right stuff.

You’re eating right, you’re moving your body, getting enough rest, and yet you just can’t stop that critical voice inside you from telling you how much more you could be doing – if you really were “good enough.”

I know this, because I’ve been there. I know when I’m making wise, healthy choices for my body, and I know when I’m not. I know when I’m honoring and cherishing my body, and when my inner critic starts to go wild in telling me all the ways I could do more.

I also watched the documentary Embrace recently – an Australian film about women’s body image throughout the world, and was reminded of all the complexities involved in loving your body. In an effort to support my sisters, I coordinated a showing of the film at a movie theatre in Anchorage, Alaska, and it SOLD OUT. Nearly 200 seats were sold – and women raved about the power of the film – how much they related to the challenges associated with loving our bodies in a society that insists we must do more if we are ever to be allowed to love ourselves. (P.S. If you haven’t seen the film – it’s worth watching.)

Most of us – we get it.

We get that there are some seriously effed up ways that women have been socialized to relate to our bodies.

And still…

We need reminders to love ourselves.

We thrive in community and sisterhood to help us remember how to love ourselves and not tear ourselves down.

We benefit from coaches and guides who help us stay accountable to ourselves and our desires.

Last summer, my friend Blaze Bell (the fantastic health coach) and I co-created a 4 week online course called Radiance – focused on helping you feel connected and joyful in your body. We created the course to help you feel more connection with others, your body, and to explore the joy that comes with body love and positivity.

The course was such a success, that we decided we wanted to do it again!  We know you could benefit from a month of body love – and we can’t wait to be your body love coaches and guides.

If you want to learn more about our four week online body love course – Radiance – click HERE to get more info. Sign up by Friday, March 3 if you’d like to join us!

And in the meantime, go find a mirror – pause – and gaze at glorious YOU. No matter what you look like, what your habits have been lately, or how much more you know you could be doing – and say, “I love you” to your body – and mean it. No matter what, you are worthy of loving your body. Or, put another way: Your body is worth of loving. If it feels weird, do it anyway. And then try it again tomorrow. And the next day.

Oh, and if you have any questions about the course, please email me and I’d love to chat more about it with you – and help you figure out whether it’s right for you.
