Yesterday afternoon I gave a friend a ride, and then drove to the university where I work. I pulled up to buy a parking permit for my evening class, and I realized my wallet wasn’t in my purse where I usually religiously place it. I scoured the car looking for my wallet as my heart began to sink. Earlier, I had been at a busy cafe with my friend and if I’d somehow left my wallet there, it was most likely looooong gone. As I racked my brain for where else I might have left my wallet, I glanced at the roof of my car. There I noticed my wallet, wedged under the roof rack, where I had left it when I opened the car door for my friend.
I breathed relief and then marveled at my luck. I had driven several miles across town and my wallet hadn’t fallen into the street. Thank you, Universe! I must have some good karma – or be a really slow driver!?
In any case, the story of my wallet and a recent interaction with an old friend has me thinking about *possibilities* this morning. Life is pretty exciting. Who knows what will happen next? One of my friends once suggested that if you’re feeling bored in your life, you should intentionally make it an adventure by saying to yourself, “I wonder what’s going to happen next!?” Sometimes I do this throughout the day and it certainly makes things a little more thrilling.
Also, last week I discovered Ellie Goulding’s new song, “Anything Can Happen,” which I absolutely adore! I especially love it when she passionately repeats “I know it’s gonna be, I know it’s gonna be, I know it’s gonna be, I know it’s gonna be, I know it’s gonna be, I know it’s gonna be, I know it’s gonna be…alright!”
I’m also quite fond of the saying, “In the end, it will be okay. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.” Who said that? I don’t know, but I like it.
In the meantime, let’s keep believing that anything can happen. Here’s Ellie’s new video – for your further amusement.
